While the litter picking paused over the spring and summer, the FrANC committee turned their attention to the lack of funds. With no regular income such as by charging a membership fee, FrANC relies on the generosity of others in the form of donations and grants.
Crowdfunding success
We wrote to members in the summer explaining that while FrANC’s running costs are generally low, we did need more funds. We set an ambitious target of £500 and were delighted that the final total was closer to £600. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed.
An unexpected and generous donation
An unexpected outcome from the crowdfunder email was that we were approached by one of our members on behalf of John Laing Charitable Trust – an independent grant-making charity. Representatives from FrANC’s committee met with that member to learn more about the fascinating history and ethos of the trust and the support they can provide. We are delighted to announce that the trust has generously donated £1,000 to FrANC. This is the second time John Laing Charitable Trust have supported us – in 2018 their funds helped provide fencing for Butterfly Junction and new litter picking equipment.
