On Saturday, 23 FrANC members and friends turned out for the last of the 2022/23 winter season litter picks along the New Cut. It was a particularly crazy haul including a life-size model human skeleton!
Over the 2022/23 winter season, we have cleared up around 75 bin bags of general litter from the banks of the New Cut as well as an extraordinary collection of larger items including supermarket trollies (which we return to the store), road signs, a fridge freezer, several shoes including a brand new pair of work boots, bits of bikes and scooters, tyres, several mattresses, a bucket of cement, a fish tank, a computer and, as mentioned, a full size skeleton!
We’ll pause our major litter picks for now to let wildlife along the banks raise their young in relative peace. They’ll resume in November and will continue until March 2024, on the second Saturday of each month. We’ll send out reminders by email as usual nearer the time.
