We were delighted to have our biggest turnout of volunteers for several years last Saturday, helping clear litter from the banks of the New Cut.

The Transport Engagement team at the council have sent us this update about the repairs and road closures around the Banana Bridge.

Bristol City Council debated a motion at their Full Council meeting “Save our rivers, stopping the sewage scandal”. The motion passed with support from Lib Dems, Greens and Labour. Find out what was agreed and how you can help.

An update on the emergency repairs to the New Cut wall alongside York Road and the Council’s plans to start the long-term repairs.

Our community gardening group have been busy maintaining and improving Butterfly Junction and the surrounding area.

FrANC has received an email from the Council’s Transport Engagement Team about emergency works to New Cut river wall along York Road.

The Banana Bridge closed on Monday 13th July for extensive restoration works which could take up to 18 months. 

We’re collating a list of wildlife sightings on the New Cut as part of a wildlife survey for the Greater Bedminster Urban Nature Reserve.

In late February, Ed Hall led a guided walk for DEFRA along the banks of the Avon New Cut, as part of a team awayday.

FrANC members have been trained by BART to measure water quality monthly in the New Cut and other waterways.

Projects to clear vegetation to allow monitoring of the state of the walls along several sections of the New Cut will start soon.
